Come hear from three leaders in alternative investments in Portland. They will be sharing about how they got to where they are today and their views on the current real estate, timberland, and private equity markets. Bring your questions!


Panelist: Christy Fields

Ms. Fields is a Managing Principal and Head of Real Estate Portfolio Solutions at Meketa Investment Group. She is also an owner and member of the Board of Directors of the firm. She leads the firm’s Diversity Leadership Committee and participates as a member of the Private Markets Research Committee, the Human Resources Committee and the Information Technology Committee.

Ms. Fields has more than 25 years of institutional real estate consulting experience. Ms. Fields assists Meketa’s clients with strategic planning, policy development, underwriting and structuring of real estate investments, analysis of manager fees and performance, and board education, among other matters.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Fields was a Senior Consultant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ Real Estate Consulting Services Group based out of Honolulu where she specialized in real estate investment analysis, lease negotiations, property and small business appraisal, property-level acquisition due diligence, and tourism and master planning studies. While at PwC, Ms. Fields was actively involved in several large RTC restructurings, including the 1,000+ asset Circle K portfolio.

Ms. Fields is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and the MSCI PREA Board.  Ms. Fields received her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and her Masters in Business Administration from Yale University’s School of Management.

Panelist: Bettina von Hagen

Bettina von Hagen is CEO of EFM (efmi.com), an investment management and climate-smart forest management company based in Portland, OR and focused on natural climate solutions in the Americas.  Bettina co-founded EFM and joined the company as CEO in 2008.  In addition to general management, Bettina leads the firm’s acquisition and disposition activities.  Previously, Bettina was Vice President at Ecotrust for forestry and ecosystem service programs and managed the Natural Capital Fund, a $40 million fund that invests in key businesses and initiatives in the conservation economy.  Bettina has over 25 years of experience in fund management, impact investing, conservation finance, ecosystem service markets, commercial lending and forestry.  

Prior to joining Ecotrust, she was a vice president and commercial lender at First Interstate Bank of Oregon. Bettina has an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA from the University of the Pacific.  She was born and raised in Peru and holds Peruvian and U.S. citizenship. She currently serves on the boards of EFM and Forest Trends and previously served on the boards of VCS and the Climate Trust.

Panelist: Tiffany ZhuGe, CFA

Tiffany ZhuGe is an Investment Officer covering private equity and venture capital at Oregon State Treasury. Prior to joining OST, Tiffany had previously served as an Associate at Franklin Park, a Philadelphia-based consultant specializing in private market strategies and as staff counsel at Pennsylvania Securities Commission.

Tiffany holds a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, as well as a B.S. in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar.

Moderator: Molly Ono

Molly leads Impax’s West Coast office and is responsible for client service, consultant relations and business development.  She works alongside asset owners and their consultants to implement sustainable investment strategies across global equity, fixed income and renewable energy infrastructure.  Prior to joining Impax she was a member of Invesco’s institutional sales and service team, and worked with a range of institutional clients across asset classes.  She began her career in 2000.  Molly graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science and is a member of Portland Women in Investment Management.
